Gadea

Gadea is a newly unveiled electronic music project by composer, musician, DJ, and live performer, Carlota Marques. Expanding upon the artistic output she fostered under the alias of Carlota, this new context finds

the Spanish artist weaving together an intricate tapestry of sounds that reflect the complex interplay between the natural world and the man-made.

With a diverse sound palette built over a number of years of working in sound design, Gadea is a project that explores the potential and limitations of traditional music theory. Phenomena such as alternative tuning systems, freeform composition, and extreme sonic processing are utilized to rewire our perceptual matrices. 

Born in Ibiza in the 90s but based for a number of years in Berlin, with a discography that spans a range of disciplines including film/TV music, DJing, composition, and live performance, her music sits at the intersection of multiple philosophies unbound to one singular aesthetic. 

In July 2023, Gadea will release two remixes for Warp Records, applying her own interpretation to two tracks from Mount Kimbie’s latest album.
